Magazine Coursework
For this component of my A level, I was tasked with creating a front cover, double page spread, and contents page for a music magazine with a genre of our choice. I achieved an A* grade, with 49/50 marks. All makeup, costuming, photography and graphic design was done by myself. I used the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, including Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, and Indesign.
I decided to make a Pop magazine, with a target audience of young women. This meant my singer needed to have a youthful, energetic star image. To achieve this, I used a vibrant teal colour, and gave her striking makeup.
The overall style of the magazine is inspired by Vogue and Elle, with a youthful twist. The magazine is characterised by the ribbons flowing around the page. Although it is a music magazine, I wanted to incorporate a fashion element, as this is an interest my target audience would have. This is visible through the cover lines.
On the double page spread, I wanted the article to be fun, relatable and inspiring, whilst also pandering to my young audiences quick attention span. I chose to do a Q&A article, focusing on how her experience with bullying helped her to achieve her dreams.
